PLANT MOLECULAR ANALYZER

inaugurated by a new section of the blog post, that of "technology of the future "gradually discover that the pages of books.

Here are some pictures and some information about one of the main co-workers Brian, his analyzer Erbe.

- Analyzer herbal Brian - (PA - Plant Analyzer )

Among all, is the tool that most use, being fundamental to his work as a researcher in the field. This is essentially a small portable multifunction scanner. The PA is composed of three parts, joined together.

Part One: and 'a sort of reader "outside" shaped like a gun bar code reader, to give useful information on the first plant without having to tear it off the ground (or from the plant, in the case of a leaf).

Second part: and 'a small analyzer, which "input channel" is represented by a metallic circle open at the top and terminating in a spherical two pedicles, through which the operator introduces small pieces of plant to be analyzed. The PA can then make a more detailed analysis at the molecular level, including informing the percentage composition of the substances that make up the seedling. If the PA is any molecule of interest in medical or cosmetic, immediately warned the operator with a signal, so that they can take more samples to analyze them later at your leisure.

Part Three: and 'have a scanner, but that' does not read the chemical characteristics of the plant, but its appearance. It works the same principle of our scanner, but reading three-dimensional images: the PA is able to open some of its components, so you can put the whole leaf (or a fragment if the leaves' too big). At this point the machine, the scanning, storage shape, size, color, surface characteristics, etc..

Brian In this way, using the three functions of the PA, it can get in a few minutes all the information that may be useful to categorize and classify the plant (the data thus obtained can then easily be compared with the electronic archive of his farm or in the infinity of ' Eighth Sea ) . In this so Brian is able to check immediately if faced with a new species, or instead to a form plants already known and perhaps changed, and if it therefore deserves further analysis.
